Syria and Russia intend to significantly boost economic cooperation between the countries.

On Saturday, the Syrian-Russian Businessmen Forum was held in Sheraton Hotel in Damascus, in scope of Damascus International Fair.

Businessmen and representatives of companies participated in discussions, aimed at boosting economic cooperation between Syria and Russia, mainly in the fields of economy, commerce, and investments.

The event is seen as a big and important opportunity to greatly improve economic situation in Syria, increase the commercial exchange between the two countries, and of course to get familiarized with investment projects in Syria, particularly as regards reconstruction and rebuilding.

Mohammad Samer Al Khalil, the Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, said that the government is doing its best to create solid and attractive economic conditions in order to gain attention from Russian investors, a thing that would further strengthen the ties between the countries.

For his part, commercial attaché at the Russian Embassy in Damascus Igor Matveyev, said that the Russian delegation participating in Damascus International Fair represents the biggest, best, and most advanced companies in Russia, ready to invest in Syria.

Matveyev called for seizing opportunity to develop economic, commercial, and industrial relations between the countries and inform Russian businessmen about Syrian products that could be imported.
