The White House has officially announced that Sebastian Gorka, until recently a deputy assistant and adviser of the US President Donald Trump on national security and foreign policy issues, has left his position.

Regarding his resignation, Gorka said there are “certain forces” within the White House that prevent Trump from carrying out his policies in accordance with his desires.

Later, however, the official sources at the White House said Gorka did not officially resign, though he’s no longer in the White House.

During his tenure at the White House, Gorka defended Trump’s views on security and anti-terrorism issues, particularly the travel ban to United States of citizens of certain Arab and Muslim-majority states.

Prior to joining the presidential team, Gorka was an editor at the conservative website Breitbart and has mostly dealt with national security issues.

Meanwhile, the White House issued a statement, saying that the US President has pardoned the former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, an immigration hard-liner who was recently convicted of contempt of court for ignoring a judicial order to halt his immigration patrols.

“I am pleased to inform you that I have just granted a full Pardon to 85 year old American patriot Sheriff Joe Arpaio. He kept Arizona safe!”, Trump wrote on his Twitter account.
