Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashnekov has made an official announcement, saying that the Syrian Army overnight recovered about 16 square kilometers of land, as well as two towns west of the Euphrates River, clearing them off ISIS and other terrorists.

The Russian general added that the units of the Russian Special Operations Forces participate alongside the Syrian Army.

The general said that representatives of the US central command in Qatar were promptly informed about an immediate response, should the Syrian Army be under fire of their allies of the so-called “Syrian Democratic Forces”, again.

During the past week, Syrian Army’s positions were attacked by the Syrian Democratic Forces militants at least twice.

Konashenkov noted that the US-led international “anti-ISIS” coalition temporarily ceased it’s process of liberating Raqqah, Syria’s main ISIS stronghold, and suddenly shifted its activities towards the province of Deir Ez Zour, right in time of the huge successes of the Syrian Army, adding that the terrorist group ISIS still controls about 20% of provincial capital.

The Russian general pointed out that despite the sudden influx of SDF militants into the north of Deir Ez Zour, there were no clashes recorded between SDF and ISIS for more than a week now.

The Russian general confirmed that more than 85 percent of all the land in Deir Ez Zour province is already in the hands of the Syrian Army, with full control expected to be assumed during the next week.
