The elite Tiger forces of the Syrian Army will continue operations against ISIS in the eastern Syrian province of Deir Ezzor, Syrian news website Muraselon has reported.

In speaking with a military source, the Muraselon report states that “the aim of their mission is to combat the Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists” to the east of Deir Ezzor city in al-Mayadeen.

The Tiger forces originally moved to Hama countryside to conduct operations, but with the latest ISIS counterattack, this has changed plans, Muraselon explained.

The Tiger forces are noted for their role in liberating Aleppo and Palmyra, and for lifting the sieges on Kuweires military base and the city of Deir Ezzor.
