Russian President Vladimir Putin has informed German Chancellor Angela Merkel of the readiness of the project to supplement the functions of the UN’s mission in the Donbass, as proposed in the Russian draft resolution of the UN Security Council.

It is noted that Putin explained in detail the initiative of Russia on the establishment of a UN mission to promote the protection of the OSCE CMM.

“Taking into account the views expressed by Angela Merkel, the Russian leader noted readiness to supplement the functions of the said UN mission proposed in the Russian draft resolution of the Security Council” – reported on the Kremlin’s website.

It is understood that the provision of protection for observers can occur not only on the contact line, but also in those places where the SMM conducts its inspection trips.
