Food exports from Russia to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) grew by tens of percent in 2017, Izvestia news writes with reference to the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Russian fish exports to the countries of the EAEU in the first half of 2017 increased by 16.4% compared to the same period in 2016 and amounted to $ 34.8 million.
At the same time, the supply of vegetables increased by 51.8% and amounted to $ 7.6 million exports of meat for the year showed an increase of 29.4% -. $ 40.7 million.
The Ministry of Agriculture believes that the increase in the supply of agricultural exports to the EAEU is due to saturation of the Russian market of such products from domestic production – fish, vegetables and meat.
Representatives of agricultural manufacturers agree that the increase in exports of products is associated with increased production in Russia.
In January-July, Russian enterprises produced 1.3 million tonnes of cattle meat, 7% more than a year ago and 2.7 million tonnes of poultry meat and offal – an increase of 4.3% compared with the same period in 2016.
Production of fish products for the five months of this year amounted to 2.2 million tons – an increase of 7.4%, and the annual growth of greenhouse vegetables shows an increase of 30%.
The Director of the Fruit and Vegetable Union, Sergey Korolyov, explained the growth of exports not only by increased production volumes, but also by the price attractiveness of Russia’s domestic vegetables for the EAEU market.
