Russia: We will attack Kurdish-led forces in Deir Ezzor if they target Syrian, Russian troops

September 21, 2017 – Fort Russ News – Paul Antonopoulos

Washington has been warned by Moscow that if the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) attack Russian or Syrian soldiers in Deir Ezzor that Russia will retaliate to such aggression, Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday.

Russia warned a representative of the US command in Al Udeid in Qatar through a special communications channel that “any attempts of shelling from the areas where the militants of the Syrian Democratic Forces are based will be immediately curbed.”

“Firing points in these areas will be immediately suppressed by all means of destruction,” the general said

The spokesman then highlighted that the SDF halted its progress against ISIS in Raqqa city so that it could conduct its Deir Ezzor operation.

“Central areas of the former ISIS capital [Raqqa], which amount to around 25% of the city’s territory, remain under full control of terrorists.

“Russia’s control means recorded that the SDF militants have been dispatched from Raqqa’s province to the northern areas of the Deir ez-Zor province,” Konashenkov said.

This is in the attempt to capture Deir Ezzor’s vast oil and gas fields from ISIS before Syrian government forces, as reported by Fort Russ News yesterday
