With the Syrian Army making rapid advancements to lift the ISIS-imposed siege on Deir Ezzor city, Russian jets have begun pounding positions of the terrorist outfit with government forces within the city also attacking bases, gathering points and positions throughout the city held by ISIS, according to Al-Masdar News.
A main focus for the barrage by Russian jets and Syrian military artillery has been the Hawyqah district, considered the stronghold of ISIS in the city, where an ISIS headquarters was destroyed with nine ISIS field commanders located inside the building.
The Al-Masdar News report confirmed that four of the commanders have been identified as Aby Omar al-Karbouli, Abu Muhammad al-Shaiti, Abu Mariam al-Taiyanah and Abu Moawyah Idlib.
In addition, Russian and Syrian jets also pounded Ayash, al-Shamitiyah, al-Masrab, al-Khariyah, al-Tabani and the Panorama area in or around Deir Ezzor city.
