Sisi and Netanyahu meet in New York

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi has met with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York. This was their first meeting. 

“During the meeting, Sisi and Netanyahu discussed ways to revive the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis, while also looking for necessary guarantees that would help realize the peace process”, said the Egyptian presidential spokesman Alaa Yusuf. 

Yusuf pointed out that the Sisi stressed the importance of Egypt’s attachment to the efforts aimed at resuming negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis, with a goal of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with the two-state agenda.

In a related context, the Egyptian president expressed his admiration of the efforts of the Trump administration as regards the issue, pointing out it will likely contribute to the final and just settlement of the Palestinian issue in providing a new reality in the Middle East where all the peoples of the region would enjoy stability, security and prosperity. 

The Egyptian spokesman added that the Israeli Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s “important” role in the Middle East and its efforts in combating terrorism, as well as for its contributions towards peace and stability in the region.
