On Sunday, the second stage of the Russian-Belarusian strategic exercises “West-2017” began . And on the same day , at least five US, German, Danish and Swedish military aircraft made reconnaissance flights at the Russian border in the south of the Baltic. This is evidenced by the data of aviation monitoring of military aircraft. 

For example, the strategic reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force RC-135U, which flew from the Mildenhall airbase in Great Britain, approached the Kaliningrad region from the Baltic. It is reported that it was conducting electronic reconnaissance at the Russian borders for several hours.

In addition, an American U-2S scout from the Fairford airbase in England, a German patrol anti-submarine P-3C Orion, a Danish reconnaissance aircraft CL60 and a Swedish reconnaissance aircraft Gulfstream 4 were seen near the Russian border.

The USS RC-135V strategic reconnaissance aircraft on Sunday also conducted reconnaissance near the Russian Navy base in Syrian Tartus. 

According to reports, since the beginning of the West-2017 exercises on September 14, US military aircraft, as well as scouts of Western countries, carried out about 20 reconnaissance flights near Russian and Belarusian borders, and several – in the area of ​​Russian bases in Syria.
