Tolgay Demir, a youth leader of the Istanbul branch of the Erdogan regime’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), recently wrote an article titled “The Flat Earth Theory.”

The article, which was published on the regime’s website, has since gone viral.

In it, Demir, the deputy president of the local party organization, seriously argued that the Earth is actually flat.

He tried to convince the readers that it was the freemasons who fooled the modern world to believe that the Earth is round.

According to himself, the photos of the Earth taken from space by NASA are “staged,” adding that moon landing was nothing but a conspiracy to support the “round Earth myth.”

In a response to why was there such a grand conspiracy to fool humanity about the shape of its planet, Demir provided the following: “Presenting the world as a sphere, and presenting it as one of the trillions of stars and planets in the universe, devalues humans, just like the theories of evolution does. Thanks to this systemic religion of science, life is deprived of its meaning. … This leads people to become the slaves of the capitalist system.”

Demir has obviously supported the pre-Copernican worldview in which a flat Earth was considered as the center of the universe, thus going back at least five centuries in science.

Ironically, though, he decided to promote his article through the internet, a product of the very same modern science he so deeply despises.

As expected, Demir immediately became a laughing stock in the media and on social networking sites.

The Turkish opposition immediately raised its voiced, pointing to the backwarded mentality of the ruling Islamist regime.

The article has since been removed from the AKP website.

This is not the first such incident of the Erdogan regime.

Previously, the Ministry of Education decided to scrap all Darwin’s teachings from the Turkish schools and replace them with the “values” of Jihad instead.

In addition, the Erdogan regime has also arrested thousands of teachers and academics.
