Petro Poroshenko met with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the 72nd UN General Assembly in New York.
“We expect that we will receive support from the US in such a difficult time for Ukraine, we hope for support with the peacekeeping mission, and on economic reforms,” Poroshenko said.
In turn, Donald Trump noted “progress”, which, in his opinion, was made possible in Ukraine in the last 3 months.
“We recently spent some time in the White House, and I know that since you achieved some success, in fact, there has been a lot of progress,” Trump said, adding that Ukraine is not the easiest place to live.
“But you make it (life in Ukrain ) better and better on an ongoing basis, and I hear very good things, because things are going very well in Ukraine,” Trump praised the Ukrainian authorities.
After several minutes of the meeting, the presidents continued the meeting without journalists.
The message on the website of Poroshenko affirms that Donald Trump allegedly “fully supported Ukraine’s position regarding the deployment of peacekeepers on the uncontrolled territory of the Donbass with a UN mandate”.
