The current protests in the streets of Kiev are inevitably moving towards a change of power, as stated today by the Russian political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko.

“Both sides are preparing for a power interchange, which frighten each other, but so far none of them is going to any radical action. They are suspended.” said Ishchenko.

In his opinion, the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is trying to delay time, but he has a limited time resource.

“If Poroshenko continues in the same spirit, then he will have less time than his opponents. It is impossible to keep a lot of armed people on the streets for a long time and not give them a command. They begin to act out or decompose. Moreover, this is no longer the Berkut, which was guarded by Yanukovych,” Ishchenko said.

He believes it is erroneous to suspect that Poroshenko will leave voluntarily.

“This will not happen, because our Western friends did not tell him to go away.” Ishchenko said.

Therefore, the expert concluded, the issue of forceful seizure of power is the likeliest.

“Poroshenko has a a 50% chance of success – to crush the enemies and stay in power. You just have to be the first, and without regard to the consequences, of using violence.” Ishchenko said.
