Russian Defense Ministry Major General Igor Konashenkov said on Saturday that the United States has been conducting carpert bombing over residential areas of the former ISIS capital of Raqqa in Syria’s north, damaging water sources in the process.
“Carpet bombing of residential areas accommodated by civilians, which the United States and [the US-led] coalition carry out, along with deliberate destruction of all natural water sources in Raqqa have brought about nothing but several thousand victims among the ‘liberated’ population and vivid examples of that military operation’s faulty planning,” he said.
The General highlighted that the the US-backed and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are in a “deadlock” with ISIS which is forcing the drastic actions by the US-led coalition.

He then continued by stating that this is in contrast to the rapid advancements that the Syrian Army, backed by Russian airstrikes, are making against the terrorist group in Deir Ezzor countryside, especially with the liberation of al-Mayadin that became the terrorist groups capital following their evacuation from Raqqa.
