DAMASCUS, Syria. An official source from the Syrian Foreign Ministry has condemned the Sunday’s Saudi-fronted anti-Iranian/Hezbollah meeting of foreign ministers of the Arab League states in Cairo.

“The Arab League has been degraded into becoming a tool steered by the money of the oil sheikhdoms against the interests of [Arab] nation and its existence, as well as common security goals while being guided by implementation of dictates of the nation’s enemies,” an official source from the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said.

The source pointed out that the preservation of the interests of Arab nation, its sovereignty and dignity shall be given top priority in order to maintain the common goals of security, instead of inventing new enemies in accordance with the wishes of external forces that are in service of Israel, adding that whoever provided all forms of support for terrorism and genocide against the Yemeni people does not have any credibility to talk about Arab national security because his actions are the ones that pose the biggest threat to the interests of Arab nation and its national security.

The source noted that the Arab people who have witnessed the so-called Arab Spring, know exactly what Hezbollah and Iran have done to counter terrorism in the region and are well informed about the sacrifices they made while they were thwarting this provocation, in addition to constantly resisting the Zionist expansionist aggression.

The Secretary of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit stressed that the meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo condemned the Iranian interference in the Arab World and declared Hezbollah as a terrorist movement, pointing out that the next step will likely be resorting to the UN Security Council to counter Iranian interference in the region.

He, however, pointed out that, for now, the Arab League states will not declare war against Iran.
