The reason for their arrest is due to their support of Iraqi Federal forces in the Nineveh Plains which is mostly inhabited by the Christian Assyrian people who have mostly remained loyal in Baghdad.
Kurdish factions have laid claim to minority lands, especially Assyrian despite locals refusing support and calling for Federal authorities to govern them.
