GOLAN HEIGHTS, Syria – Israel has shot down a Russian-made drone operating over the Golan Heights in Syria’s southwest on Saturday.
The drone was brought down with a US-made patriot interceptor missile.
“It was a reconnaissance UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) and not an attack UAV and we are checking whether there is any connection to Iran and Hezbollah,” military spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Jonathan Conricus, told Reuters.
It has been known that Israel supports terrorist fighters operating in the border region, with videos and photographs showing jihadists being treated in Israeli hospitals.
