The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has protested the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Crimea on November 18, 2017. President Putin was there to open a monument to Tsar Alexander III.

The Ukrainian side considers this visit as other visits by Russian officials to the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol a violation of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and a “cynical and demonstrative disregard of the Russian side of the generally recognized norms of international law.” – said in a statement.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry once again stressed that Kiev considers the Crimea and Sevastopol an integral part of Ukraine “its internationally recognized borders.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation sent a corresponding note, dispelling the protest.
