Ukraine has a long way to go if it wants to join the EU. This was stated by the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite.

The politician arrived at the fifth summit of the Eastern Partnership program, which takes place in Brussels. Answering the question of journalists about whether Kiev can count on the political support of the EU, Grybauskaite replied: “Of course, as soon as they are ready, but there is a long way to go.”

According to the Lithuanian president, Europe is providing much assistance, but Kiev does not fully utilise it. So, out of 12 billion, only two thirds of the funds were used.

“We offer much to Ukraine, now it depends on how quickly they can carry out reforms,” said Grybauskaite.

The multilateral program “Eastern Partnership” was launched by the EU in 2009. Its main goal is to develop cooperation with the former Soviet republics – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
