At a meeting with the leaders of Turkey and Iran, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to begin a political settlement of the situation in Syria.
Putin said that “the three countries are guarantors of stability in Syria, and it is time to jointly think over a comprehensive program for the revival of this country, disfigured by a long civil war. We are talking about the restoration of industry, agriculture, infrastructure, health and education systems, the demining of the liberated territories, assistance in the return of refugees.”
He also invited colleagues to discuss the parameters of the organization of the Congress of the Peoples of Syria, stressing at the same time that only the citizens of this state should decide the issues of the state system.
The President of the Russian Federation noted that the process of reform will not be easy, it will require compromises and concessions from all its participants, including Baghdad. Putin believes that Russia, Iran and Turkey should make this work as productively as possible.
