Putin commends Kazakhstan’s effort to bring peace to Syria

CHELYABINSK, Russia – Russian President Vladimir Putin commended Kazakhstan for its role in resolving the Syrian crisis, during the XIV Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan in Chelyabinsk on Thursday.

Kazakh officials offered Astana as a neutral venue and “a natural home” for peace negotiations on Syria.

Since 2015 Astana has hosted negotiations between involved parties in Syria including the Damascus government, opposition groups and Russia.
