MOSCOW, Russia. The campaign team of Ksenia Sobchak, who is running for the position of the Russian president in 2018, has decided not to open regional headquarters in the North Caucasus, as they could not find personnel willing to coordinate the campaign, according to the website of the TV host.

“In Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan, not a single person has been elected who is ready to head the candidate’s headquarters. There are also no volunteers from Adygea, Karachaevo-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, while  volunteers from these republics are registered – and very active [in other campaigns]”, – said the head of the network of Sobchak’s regional offices, Timur Valeyev.

In November, plans were announced to open at least 50 regional headquarters in the next month to collect signatures in different regions. Teams have partially formed in Kazan, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Tomsk, Tyumen, Saratov and St. Petersburg.

Earlier, Sobchak launched the pre-election channel “I’m against [the current government]!” in social networks. There she will broadcast “campaign diaries”, debates and interviews.

The TV host is going to participate in the presidential elections in March 2018, she positions herself as a candidate “against all”.

Sobchak has already been criticized for a number of scandalous statements. For example, she said that she considers the Crimea Ukrainian territory and supports the anti-Russian sanctions of the United States. She appeared on CNN, stating this publicly. Maria Zakharova, Russia’s Foreign Affairs spokesperson commented that if ever a US presidential candidate went on a foreign news network, supporting the aggressive stance of other countries against the US – the public would never except them as an American patriot, let alone a candidate.
