DAMASCUS, Syria. Units of the Syrian Army and its allies have launched a wide-scale military operation against Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham (Al Nusra Front) terrorists in the northeastern countryside of Hama province.

The goal is to restore security and stability to the villages in Al Rahajan area, as well as securing the Hama-Aleppo motorway.

The operation is focused on destroying Al Nusra fortifications in an area that is extending 30 km alongside the Hama-Aleppo highway from the north of Ethriya to the village of Sheikh Hilal.

According to the military sources, the Syrian Army aims to eradicate Al Nusra Front terrorists for good, while receiving backing from the Syrian Air Force and its allies.

So far, several gatherings of Al Nusra terrorists, their command centers, vehicles and weapons (many of which were smuggled from their strongholds in Idleb province) were destroyed.

The Syrian Air Force also destroyed a huge Al Nusra convoy consisting of eight trucks carrying tanks, and which was arriving from direction of Al Boweider village, located 60 km north of the town of Al Sa’en.

In the meantime, the army units continued to break through Al Nusra defense lines in the area of Jwai’ed between Al Shahatiyeh and Khirbert Rasem Al Ahmar, located northwest of Ethriya, the area of Rasem Al Sawan, located north of Al Shiekh Hilal, inflicting heavy losses upon terrorists in terms of personnel and equipment.

The operations resulted in Syrian Army regaining control over a number of villages, namely Al Shahatiyeh, Jib Al Abyad, Jib Al Jamalan, Raem Miyal, Rasem Al Sawan, Khirbet Rasem Al Ahmar, Rasem Al Rahraha, Al Khafiyeh, Abu Lafeh, Mraiqeb Al Jamalaneh, Wadi Al Zarzoub, Al Ertiwaziyeh, Jwai’ed, and Sham Al Hawa, Al Meshirfeh farms, as well as the town of Sarha, one of the largest Al Nusra strongholds besides Al Rahajan.

These advancements are of great importance as they will allow the Army to establish control over important strategic areas that will grant it fire control and prevent the terrorists from advancing towards safe spots in the northeastern countryside of Hama province, particularly the strategic town of Al Rahajan. This will eventually allow the Army to secure the highway route between the east of Al Sa’en and Ethriya.

In total, more than 100 terrorists Al Nusra Front and the aligned terrorists were annihilated today, in addition to destruction of several of their vehicles (some of which were equipped with heavy machineguns).

The Army also discovered a field hospital, previously used by the terrorists, and dismantled dozens of explosive devices.
