Syrian high school students preparing to qualify for the international science competitions

Despite the war, at least 3016 Syrian high school students have qualified for the third stage of the Syrian National Science Olympiad’s competitions in the subjects of mathematics, physics, chemistry, IT and biology.

Imad Al Azab, the head of the National Commission for the Syrian  National Science Olympiad said that the third stage on provincial level will be held on November 26th.

The second stage of the competitions was held last Sunday and saw participation of 23,817 Syrian students coming from all provinces.

The winners of the Olympiad will be able to participate in a variety of international Olympiads scheduled to take place in the Summer, including the International Mathematics Olympiad in Romania, International Physics Olympiad in Portugal, International Chemistry Olympiad in Czech Republic, International IT Olympiad in Japan and International Biology Olympiad in Iran.

So far, Syria won 18 awards at these olympiads.
