The Russian Union of Afghanistan Veterans is ready to take part in the work of the election headquarters of Vladimir Putin, said the chairman of the association Franz Klintsevich.
On Wednesday, Putin announced his intention to run in 2018. Earlier, Klintsevich said that specific measures to support Putin’s candidacy, the Russian Union of Afghan Veterans will discuss at its meeting due on Thursday.
“The main result of our work was the decision to support President Vladimir V. Putin in the election campaign in March 2018. We will unite our efforts, take part in the work of campaign headquarters in the regions, show the unity of our veteran community at a difficult time for Russia.”
Vladimir Putin’s rating reached its highest figures between 2014 and 2016, notably during the acquisition of Crimea as well as the start of the Russian air campaign in Syria. It dropped off in the 2016 – 2017 primarily due to the effects of the sanctions on the economy. Nevertheless, today Putin approval rating is in the mid 80%.
