LA PAZ, Bolivia – Bolivian President Evo Morales has come out firing in defense of Venezuela, a country that is being targeted by US capitalism.

Morales, known for his tweets on anti-imperialism, stated on his Twitter today that the “USA, the country most illegitimate for its interventionism, racism and capitalism which destroys the world and peace of peoples, calls the Venezuelan ANC (Constituent National Assembly) “illegitimate.””

“Venezuela like Bolivia, is dignified, free and independent. Latin America is no longer a Yankee colony,” his tweet continued.

Venezuela for the entirety of 2017 has been targeted by the US who has placed sanctions and provided support and finances to right-wing reactionary mobs who killed dozens of government supporters and security services.

This is because Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world but is staunchly anti-imperialist and anti-American.

Morales, the first indigenous president of Bolivia, is a strong supporter of Venezuela’s sovereignty and has often provided a rhetorical defense for the oil-rich Latin American state.
