CARACAS, Venezuela – Products from China that imitate famous brands have invaded the shelves of supermarkets and shops in Caracas and across Venezuela.
This comes as the country’s inflation skyrockets.
Diapers, toothpaste, shampoo and feminine towels from China, whose packaging imitates those of recognised – mostly American – brands, are seen more and more frequently in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas and other cities in the Latin American country.
The economic crisis and uncontrolled inflation have made more and more people look for imitation brands that sport names such as “Hoed and Shouders” and “Convenrt,” and considerably cheaper prices than the brand-name originals.
