Commander of the al-Bakara tribe and his fighters defected from the SDF to the Syrian Army with the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) playing a negotiating role and organizing the defections.

The PMU played a key role in defeating ISIS in Iraq, with the mostly Shi’ite militia crossing into Syria to help in the liberation of Albukamal, the last major town that was under the control of ISIS.
