President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, commented on the decision of Russia’s non-admission to the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, and also expressed the hope tha athletes from Russia will stil go to Korea for the Olympic Games.

“Together with the commission, a comprehensive report was prepared,on which the IOC relied on making its decision. It includes elements of Russia’s manipulation in the anti-doping laboratory in Sochi in 2014. The result was proportional sanctions, which protect the rights of clean athletes.

As a former athlete, I express regret and sympathize with all athletes affected by manipulation. We agree that the redistribution of medals will be carried out at the ceremonies during the Games in Pyeongchang, in order to somehow compensate for the losses they incurred in 2014.

Russia may boycott Olympics – but a boycott does not achieve anything. In addition, I see no reason to boycott. Clean athletes from Russia can take part in the Olympics,” Bach said.

Just not under the Russian flag? No big deal apparently.
