Russia and Iran begin cooperation on train production

“A contract has been signed between Iran and Russia on the start of production of train cars, 20,000 freight wagons and 1 thousand passenger coaches will be produced within the framework of cooperation between Russian and Iranian companies,” said the Iraniann Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Abbas Akhundi. 


According to the minister, immediately after signing the contract, the parties will produce 6 thousand cars. 

Iranian media reported earlier that the Russian United Carriage Company had agreed with three Iranian companies on the supply and assembly of rail cars in Iran. 

In turn, the head of Roseximbank Andrei Polyakov said that the bank intends to provide 1 billion rubles to finance the project, and connect other major Russian banks, including VTB.
