Supporters of Saakashvili break into the October Palace
Kiev. Supporters of the former president of Georgia and the former head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, Saakashvili, seized the building of the October Palace in the center of Kiev. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to journalists, activists broke the front door and, breaking the resistance of the national guard, which was barricaded inside, penetrated the building. Law enforcement officers used fire extinguishers against the activists. The demonstrators pulled several Guardsmen, white with powder from the extinguishers, out of the palace.
“Three strong claps were also heard during the assault, as from some explosive device, and some protesters who suffered the fire extinguisher powder were injured, doctors are looking after them,” RIA Novosti reported.
In turn, Saakashvili himself urged his colleagues to leave the building and continue on to the Independence Square (Maidan). It is noted that some supporters of Saakashvili were already en route to the square.
Earlier it was reported that in Kiev the supporters of Saakashvili, ex-president of Georgia and the former head of Odessa Region are holding a rally, demanding the adoption of a law on impeachment, which would formalize the procedure for deposing the president in Ukraine.
