The ex-president of Georgia and former governor of the Odessa region, Mikhail Saakashvili, promised to show “how a president dies.”
This statement was made by the politician in the courtroom in Kiev, where he was taken in preventive measures. He urged his supporters to gather outside the court building, and also said that he intends to continue his hunger strike, which he announced in the pre-courtroom detention center.
“I showed you how a president can work, and now I will show you how he can die,” Saakashvili said.
The Prosecutor General’s Office asked the court to order the politician round-the-clock house arrest. He himself said that he considers himself not a detainee, but a prisoner of war – Putin’s prisoner of war!
The politician was detained on December 5 for assisting participants of criminal organizations and concealing their criminal activities. Supporters of Saakashvili defended him from law enforcement officers, after which they held a rally in the center of Kiev. The former Georgian president was arrested on Friday evening. Saakashvili then declared an indefinite hunger strike. He faces imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
