The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that Chechen athletes  will not compete at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea under a neutral flag. This comes after the IOC announcement yesterday, blanket-banning the entire Russian team from the games.

“No athlete with a Chechen residence will compete under a neutral flag, and those Chechen athletes who made it to the national Olympic team, as part of fair national competition and selection process, we will be honored as winners!”, Kadyrov wrote on his social media.

The head of the State Duma committee on sports, Mikhail Degtyarev, said that the decision on whether or not Russian athletes will go to the Olympics under a neutral flag will be made on December 12.
