More than 2.8 thousand civilians have been killed and 7 to 9 thousand were injured in the Donbass since the beginning of the conflict. This is stated in the report of the UN Monitoring Mission on the situation with human rights in Ukraine, released on Tuesday.

“During the whole period of the conflict, at least 2818 civilians were killed,” it was informed. In 2016, the same report claimed around 2000 civilian deaths but 293 of these were passengers of MH17.

In total, according to the UN, 10.3 thousand people were killed and almost 25 thousand were injured since the beginning of the conflict.

From 14 April 2014 to 15 November 2017, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded 35,081 victims in connection with the conflict in Ukraine, including members of the armed forces of Ukraine, civilians and members of armed groups. This figure includes 10,303 people killed and 24,778 wounded.

Unofficial estimates run much higher than these figures – up to 100,000 killed in the conflict according to some sources.
