SANA’A, Yemen – Fighters from Ansarallah, also known as the Houthis, have attacked the home of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh in Sana’a on Monday before reportedly recapturing most of the city from forces loyal to Saleh.
Footage shows smoke rising from the home of the former Yemeni President after the Houthi attack, as Houthi fighters control and guard the area.
Earlier, unverified footage released from Khawlan, just outside of Sana’a, appeared to show a dead body resembling Ali Abdullah Saleh.
The footage was released shortly after the Houthis claimed that Saleh had been killed while attempting to flee to Maarib from the capital Sana’a.
Since Sunday, at least 125 people were killed in battles between Houthi fighters from Ansarallah and forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
The two groups have fought together against the Saudi-led coalition, which intervened in Yemen in March 2015 in a bid to reinstate the government of ousted President Abd-Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
In October, the Saudi-led coalition imposed a blockade on Yemen, following an intercepted missile attack on Riyadh, for which the Houthis claimed responsibility.
