The deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbass is impossible without the consent of the Russian side, US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, said during a conference in Vienna.

The peacekeeping mission will not happen, if Russia does not agree to this – Volcker declared.

The US Special Representative noted that the mission have the presence of heavy weapons.

The idea of peacekeepers is that they are necessary for security in the region and for fulfilling the critical criteria of the Minsk agreements. We prefer the peacekeeping mission, because we consider it the best for security. Russia’s proposal to provide protection to OSCE monitors does not meet these objectives – he added.
