CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuela’s National Constituent Assembly President Delcy Rodriguez announced plans to remove Brazilian ambassador Ruy Pereira and Canada’s charge d’affaires Craig Kowalik from their posts during a press conference in Caracas on Saturday.
She accused Kowalik for a history of tweeting “rude and vulgar” comments about Venezuela.
Brazil was identified as it attacks Venezuela rhetorically but is ruled by President Michel Temer who came to power in a soft-coup with the right-wing leader implicated in a major corruption scandal.
“We have decided to declare persona non grata the Brazilian ambassador until such time as constitutional order is restored in the neighboring country” Rodriguez said.
Brazil however also hit back.
“If confirmed, this decision demonstrates, once again, the authoritarian nature of the Nicolas Maduro administration and its lack of willingness to engage in any type of dialogue,” Brazilian officials said.
