TAIZ, Yemen – At least 40 people were killed and scores injured in a suspected Saudi-led coalition airstrike in the southwestern Yemeni province of Taiz on Tuesday.
The airstrike hit a busy Shuhrah market in Al Taiziya district, a popular market among residents of the nearby villages.
Houthi resistance fighrers, who took control of Yemen’s capital Sanaa three years ago, accused the Saudi-led coalition of executing the airstrike.
The charred remains of people, animals and burned out vehicles can be seen in graphic footage.
The Saudi-led bombing campaign continues in Yemen along with US backing, with casualty figures exceeding 16,200 people since the beginning of the war in March 2015.
A reported 40,000 have been injured and more than three million people have been displaced.
The Saudi-led war is now in its third year, with human rights organisations repeatedly accusing the coalition of bombing civilian areas.
