The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) can provide more than three thousand partisans with weapons of its own production on the territory controlled by Kiev, said the head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko.
The head of the republic commented on Canada’s decision to begin deliveries of lethal weapons to Ukraine.
On Wednesday, December 13, it became known that Canada added Ukraine to the list of countries where it is allowed to export Canadian automatic weapons. The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau said that Canada will continue to help Ukraine “defend its sovereignty.”
In addition, the mission of 200 Canadian military instructors in Ukraine was extended until March 2019, which train soldiers and officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the Yavoriv training ground in the Lviv region.
In August, Pentagon chief James Mattis said that the United States was studying the possibility of supplying lethal weapons to Kiev. He stressed that “defensive weapons are not a provocative means if you are not an aggressor”.
