Al-Qaeda blasts jihadists who went to fight Kurds in Afrin and not the Syrian government in Idlib

January 24, 2018 – Fort Russ News – Paul Antonopoulos

IDLIB, Syria – The Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Nusra Front have claimed in a statement (seen above) that the so-called treachery of ISIS has been one of the biggest reasons why the Syrian Army has managed to reach Abu Duhur and capture everything east of its railway on the Idlib axis (southern Idlib countryside-northern Hama countryside-southern Aleppo countryside).

As the Syrian Army and Al-Nusra Front were battling on the Idlib axis, ISIS joined the fray, attacking both Syrian government forces and the Al-Nusra Front, capturing a host of villages from the latter. Al-Nusra claim this was the main reason for its rapid collapse on this battle front.

The statement also provided the first acknowledgments that the Syrian Army liberated the Abu Duhur airbase.

“The mujaheen retreated from the airport,” the statement said.

They also reported that Al-Nusra leader Al-Joulani is on the front lines at the outskirts of Abu Duhur fighting against the Syrian government.

He then went onto criticize the militants who went en mass to Afrin with the Turkish military to fight against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), instead of defending Idlib from the Syrian Army.
