IDLIB, Syria – ISIS has just announced through its media services that it has captured towns from the Syrian Army overnight on the Idlib axis (southern Idlib countryside-northern Hama countryside-southern Aleppo countryside).

The Idlib axis for the last three weeks has been the site of intense battles between ISIS, the Syrian Army and Idlib jihadist forces, primarily the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Nusra Front.
The towns captured were Siraa’, Suray’ and Al-Jihan, which now puts the terrorist organization on the outskirts of the pivotal town of Sinjar.
If ISIS are to capture Sinjar, it will spell bad news from pro-government forces as they are attempting to capture Abu Dhohour airport from Al-Nusra. This huge distraction can slow down efforts by the Syrian Army to liberate the jihadist-held province of Idlib.
