The British Armed Forces are lagging behind the Russian army, as stated by the chief of the British General Staff, Nick Carter.

Carter stressed the seriousness of the threat, which, in his opinion, is represented by Russian cruise missiles successfully utilised in Syria. London does not have any protection from them, the head of the General Staff believes.

The General notes with regret that spending on military development has been reduced and believes that in recent years, Moscow has surpassed the military capabilities of the UK.

The British high-ranking military personnel are concerned about Russia’s domination of artillery, electronic warfare and computer technology.

Earlier, the US Defense Ministry in its new strategy called  Russia and China their rivals, and required additional investments for the “strategic confrontation with these countries.” The Pentagon believes that Moscow and Beijing pose a threat to the security and prosperity of the United States.
