The director of the Progressive Policy Foundation, Oleg Bondarenko, is banned from entering the European Union. The political scientist flew from Moscow to Germany to a meeting of the German left party Die Linke.

“Greetings from Polish friends: on request of Warsaw, I am not allowed to enter the EU for a period of 3 years. It turns out that this has been in place since November 17 last year. At the same time, Italy let me in in December. Now I’m in Tegel airport, having come for today’s meeting with Die Linke. I am awaiting the decision of the German police,” Bondarenko said.

The political scientist expressed surprise at the actions of the Polish authorities. “Last time I was in Poland was five years ago.”

Earlier, similarly, at the request of Poland, the Russian political scientist Alexei Martynov was barred from entering the EU.

Both Bondarenko and Martynov are known for their harsh criticism of the current regime in Ukraine, which came to power as a result of the coup d’état in 2014.
