COVENTRY, The United Kingdom – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in Coventry in the United Kingdom, has claimed that the Grey Wolves, an ultranationalist Turkish organization, are fighting against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria.

This comes as 11 days ago, Turkish-led forces, primarily the Turkish military and their Syrian proxies, began an operation in the Syrian northwest canton of Afrin to expel the YPG, that Ankara recognizes as a terrorist organization, from the border region between Turkey and Syria.

#SOHR The #Turkish forces, the Gray Wolves and the factions advance in the west of #Afrin and seek to wrap around a new village to expand their scope of control backed by intensive aerial and ground shelling,” the Observatory said in a tweet.

However, no evidence has been provided that the Grey Wolves are truly fighting in Syria against the YPG.

The Grey Wolves are a pan-Turkic organization that calls for a Greater Turkey and closer to ties with other Turkic peoples such as the Azeris and Central Asian peoples, while being extremely xenophobic to not-Turks.
