DEIR EZZOR, Syria – It has been a brutal nine days for Kurdish-led forces as they continue to sustain a high amount of casualties. Only hours ago the Turkish military has claimed to have killed nearly 600 militants belonging to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the northwest Syrian canton of Afrin. Meanwhile, ISIS has continued its offensive against the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), killing 15 militiamen in a single suicide attack in the eastern desert province of Deir Ezzor.
The SVBIED attack occurred on the outskirts of Granjii village on the eastern shores of the Euphrates.
In the resulting attack also destroyed a humvee. These suicide attacks in the past two weeks has killed nearly 100 SDF fighters, demonstrating that ISIS are still a capable terrorist organization operating in Syria, despite being severely weakened over the course of 2017.
