AFRIN, Syria – The Kurds have come out in huge numbers yesterday to protest against what appears to be an inevitable Turkish invasion of the Afrin canton in northern Syria.

They also came out in a show of support to the People’s Protection Units (YPG), the main Kurdish militia operating in Syria.

Turkey considers the YPG who control Afrin, as the Syrian branch of the outlawed Turkey-based Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). Although the US arms, funds and supports the YPG, it contradictory considers the PKK as a terrorist organization as well.

Earlier today, a Turkish minister swore that the Turkish military will fight the YPG in Afrin soon. Details can be read here.
