AFRIN, Syria – Turkish air raids have severely damaged the archaeological temple square of Ayn Dara south of Afrin in the northwest of Syria.

The temple site is an Iron Age Syro-Hittite temple noted for its similarities to Solomon’s Temple and was founded in around 1300 BC.

This comes as Turkish-led forces battle the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the northwest canton of Afrin.

So far Turkish-led forces have made little gains, with a Russian military expert explaining why this is the case. Full details can be read here.
