SANA’A, Yemen – President of Yemen Saleh Ali al-Sammad has confirmed on Saturday that Saudi attempts to recruit the strongest and most powerful coalition of tribes in Yemen, the Hashid, have failed, despite repeated Saudi calls and attempts to bribe the Hashid into cooperating with their latest campaign of sedition, violence and chaos, the tribe has reaffirmed its loyalty to the Yemeni republic, the Yemeni Resistance Watch reported.

Sammad gave his gratitude to the Hashid tribe in a speech made on Saturday and expressed the important role they play in defending the Yemeni revolution, republic and unity of the country against Saudi subversion.

Sammad highlighted that the Hashid tribe will continue to have a special status among the Yemeni tribes, and that the Republic will count on them for the reconstruction of Yemen in the future, the Yemeni Resistance Watch reported.

The Hashid tribe is one of the largest tribal confederations in Yemen, and the single strongest in terms of military manpower with them being instrumental in the 2011 Revolution against military strongman and longtime president Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was forced into exile after the Hashid tribe banded together with others to form the Alliance of Yemeni Tribes, a massive military force counting up to 60,000 tribal volunteers, the Watch explained.
