Russian Defense Minister General of the Army, Sergei Shoigu, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar ,Senior General Min Aung Khlayn, have held a series of talks. An intergovernmental agreement was signed, allowing for a simplified procedure for warships to dock in ports of Russia and Myanmar.

Russia and Myanmar are systematically expanding military cooperation, said Sergei Shoigu. The Russian side has called the exchange of warship visits as “courtesy visits.”

Ming Aung Hlayn stated that he hopes contacts between Russian and Myanmar military personnel will grow.
