The new S-400 “Triumph” anti-aircraft missile system has been put on duty in the Volga region. The complexes are designed to intercept and attack air targets.

The previous complexes S-300PS had served for more than 20 years, and have now been replaced by the latest S-400.

The new division consists of eight anti-aircraft missile systems, which, under a single command, are able to annihilate 80 targets at once. In order to master the S-400 controls, anti-aircraft gunners of the Central Military District underwent special retraining in St Petersburg, and then carried out launches in practice at the state testing range in Kapustin Yar.

“The modern technology of the S-400 allows the destruction of any aerodynamic or aeroballistic object, of all the existing countries of the modern world. There is no air weapon that can fly faster than what the S-400 can intercept.” said Valery Ivanin, commander of the Guards Aviation Regiment.

In the near future, the regiment will be equipped with an additional battalion of missile-gun complexes “Pantsir-S1”. They will guard the main anti-aircraft complexes, so that in “case of combat use, the S-400 is not distracted by small details.”
